These are the posts which I feel represent how and why I think the way I do.

1. In July of 2006, I started this blog. Years later, so much of my life has changed, but the thoughts expressed still resonate.

2. In March 2009, I had the incredible opportunity to learn from a homeless man I took to lunch. Years later, I still look back thinking I could have done more. It remains a lesson for me both in terms of appreciating all I have and remembering what my priorities should be.

3. In February of 2011, I began thinking about Plato’s Allegory of the Cave in relation to what my goal as a parent should be.

4. In October of 2011, I wrote Positives From Negatives and a Christmas Story. I still like the story about the importance of perspective on our happiness.

5. In November, 2011, I tried to formulate what it should mean to be a “good man” after rereading Kipplings “If.”

6. In April of 2012, I passed on two stories which speak to the experience of living with MS: the spoons story and the teacher’s water.

7.  In August of 2012, I was questioning the stories so many of us take for granted.  I wonder how many I get as wrong as the two I talked about here.  I bet the answer is quite a few.

8.  In September of 2012, I ran across an old theory of how the brain works, complex systems theory.  It does a better job than any other easily understood theory I have seen describing why the correlations between location of flares and symptoms are so weak.

9. In June of 2013, I wrote about the fallacy of American perception of “privacy.”  This one is near and dear to me as I have come to understand how difficult real privacy is to achieve and as I have come to question why we bother.

10. Finally in November of 2013, I had four posts in a row with thoughts inspired by The Black Swan.  It is a book which shaped much of my current thought process about MS, recognizing what we know, how we should direct research and more.

The first post was

I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.

There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off
topic but I had to tell someone!
